Harnessing technology with unrivaled calm is Brian's stock in trade. It's the job of SEPS - the pre-press division at Meek's - to test-fly and prepare all projects before they go on press. Brian keeps an astonishing number of plates in the air at all times — printing plates made directly from the computer, that is.
Through computerization, print quality and turnaround are greatly improved over old "film-to-plate" pre-press methods. As Meek's timely dedication to technology grows, more work volume is possible. Job complexity in Brian's pre-press division is growing in tandem as clients submit jobs built with an increasing array of software.
When SEPS receives a client's digital file for printing, it must be properly prepared for the Meek's press room. Before the job goes on press, color and fit must be assured. Proofing should show the client as closely as possible what the finished job will look like. Brian's many years of experience are brought to bear as he and his crew analyze and configure digital files for Meek's quality presswork.
"Fortunately, despite the urgency of the business, the best thing about Meek's is the laid-back atmosphere. Everyone has to go with the flow." Brian said.
Brian loves keeping up with the latest tech. He enjoys doing it - after all, computers had been his hobby as a kid - when he built his first computer from a kit. Now that he has built that foundation, he's using his experience and common sense - his knack for doing things the way they should be done.
